A substantial portion of the history of the Blalock Mexico Colony is gleaned from newspaper articles of the time. The Mangum Sun-Monitor and the Mangum Star are the main sources of this primary source data. Some of the articles were typical reporting of events, actions and statements of people at the time, but many of the articles were letters that members of the colony wrote to the newspapers as a way of reaching a large audience and saving much time and money on postage.
For many of the articles we have provided both an image of the original column and a text document that may make many of the articles easier to decipher. |
