Although a bad day, a large number of the Mexico colonists met at the court house in Mangum last Saturday and put some of the finishing touches on their arrangements to move to their purchases in the Mexican country. The list of membership was finally closed as all the money necessary had been subscribed and in fact about ten thousand dollars, it is said, was refused and turned back.
The remainder of the first payment of thirty thousand dollars was turned over to G.T. Ingram and Green Palmer and they left Monday morning to land it safely in the hands of the party in Mexico from whom the track of land was purchased. |
