Dorris Richard Rhodes went to Chamal and met and married my grandmother Dolly Ann Snell on Nov. 9, 1919. They had 10 children.

It was a very plentiful country, but it is hard to describe what their life was like because it was a different era in time. They were happy people and they raised their families. They had friends and neighbors that came with them from Oklahoma.

The Mexican government was in a lot of turmoil at the time. It made it hard on the people because the soldiers came in and took possession of what they wanted, when they wanted it, and there was not much that could be done about it. There were times when they went to the mountains during the revolution because they were not safe living in their homes. During revolutionary times they left and came out of Mexico to Texas for the safety of their families.

They are buried in Rhodes Cemetery in De Soto, Texas.
